With incredible views, a friendly local population and no end to the activities to enjoy throughout the year, it should come as no surprise that Gatlinburg is one of the top destinations in the United States. Although it would be impossible to choose the best event of the year, the Winter Magic in Gatlinburg is a great place to start. Read on to learn more about this exciting winter festival and all the wonderful activities that come with it.

Winter Magic
Each winter, the town of Gatlinburg comes to life with stunning decorations and festive activities. This year, November 7th marks the start of Winter Magic. While the chili cookoff may be the main attraction, there is still more to do and see. Children will love the teddy bear decor throughout the town, and the twinkling lights highlight the incredible natural scenery and quaint pedestrian friendly streets. You will even find romantic illuminated archways to share a romantic moment with a loved one.

Chili Cookoff
If you love chili, there is nowhere better on Earth than Gatlinburg on November 7th. For just $8, visitors can sample more than 20 different types of chili. The flavors will range from mild to bold and even a few spicy favorites. After you have sampled as many as you can handle, vote for your favorite creations, best presentations and even the best chili apron. The event runs from 5pm to 8pm, with the winners announced at 7:15.

While enjoying Winterfest in Gatlinburg, there are countless ways to spend your time. Horseback riding in Pigeon Forge, hiking through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or even nearby classes in horseback riding in Sevierville can be a wonderful way to kick off the winter season.
