Beautiful girl sitting on a horse outdoors against moody skyIn everything you do, you should dress for success. This is especially true when horseback riding! Wearing the wrong clothing can make your ride uncomfortable and dangerous, so it’s important to pay close attention to your fashion choices. Before you go horseback riding in Gatlinburg, check out our tips for what to wear.

Comfort is Key

First and foremost, make sure that your clothes are comfortable. Breeches are ideal for horseback riding, but if you don’t have any, tracksuit bottoms or jeggings are good choices. Do not wear shorts, because this can result in painful saddle burn. Also, try to avoid wearing jeans or pants with a heavy seam down the inside of your leg. You don’t want the seam digging into you when you ride!

Proper Footwear

Riders should wear boots with a slight heel in them. Do not wear trainers because they can get stuck in your stirrup.

Dress for the Season

It is always good to dress in layers so you’ll be prepared for any temperature. Wearing gloves is a good idea because they keep your hands warm and help with your grip. Five Oaks Riding Stables will provide you with a helmet.
